Workshop Introduction
The 2023 Cultural Heritage Protection Joint Workshop Peking University Summer Course is jointly organized by the School of Archaeology and Museology of Peking University, the UNESCO Asia-Pacific World Heritage Training and Research Centre (Beijing) (WHITRAP-Beijing), and the Peking University Public Archaeology and Art Center, with support from the Chongqing Ancient Sites and Heritage Protection Association and the Diaoyu Fortress Scenic Area Management Office.
The workshop will bring together an interdisciplinary team covering cultural heritage, history, archaeology, museology, architecture, landscape studies, tourism, sociology, anthropology, urban and rural planning, and environmental ecology. The team will conduct field research at the Diaoyu Fortress site in Hechuan District, Chongqing.
Under the guidance of instructors, participants will investigate the heritage site, surrounding landscape environment, and local community conditions. Based on the core values of the Sichuan–Chongqing mountain fortress system, they will develop foundational research, current condition assessments, and preliminary design proposals for the protection and presentation of the Diaoyu Fortress site.
Thank you again to all teachers and students for your support of WHITRAP-Beijing.
