Introduction to Cultural Heritage(Part 1)

The study of cultural heritage consist of typology，valuation，preservation，and management studies. Depending on different standards and purpose of categorization，there are a few main typologies based on characteristics，forms，functions，and periods; among which，typology based on characteristics is the most commonly used. Under this categorization，cultural heritage is divided into two types-tangible and intangible. Tangible heritage is further divided into movable and immovable heritages, and intangible heritage can be classed by process-oriented and results-oriented types, and other more detailed subtypes under these two major categories.There are also composite heritage types that share characteristics of both tangible and intangible heritages，such as cultural landscape, which is currently classed as a type of tangible heritage, and cultural space, which is currently classed as a type of intangible heritage.The unique value of cultural heritage is that it spans beyond human intergeneration (age value) ，and its distinction with natural heritage is that the latter has existed for a longer period before any human creations. Cultural heritage values are diverse and derivative，and can be classed into two general types-intrinsic existence value and external usage value，with sentimental value being the tie connecting the two.

Recognition of Outstanding Universal Value of Fossil Natural Heritage

By combining the characteristics of fossil natural heritage and analyzing the Outstanding Universal Value of world natural heritage selection，this paper attempts to construct a cognitive framework for the value of such heritage. By using the Triassic Marine vertebrate fossil site in Guizhou Province as an example，and systematically integrating the relevant research results，it is believed that the fossil site has the universality of significant. Compared with other fossil sites in the world，it has prominent international status and value. as the Triassic geochemical group in Guizhou is highly intact and well preserved. The understanding of the above three aspects is integral to the understanding and analysis of the value of fossil heritage and provides a favorable guidance for the nomination of China’s fossil natural heritage as world natural heritage.

Review of the Development of World Natural Heritage in China

World natural heritage has become a treasure for its unique and rare natural features and outstanding academic value. Since China became a member of the UNESCO world heritage committee on December 12，1985，natural heritage has developed rapidly and the number of world natural heritage sites has been increasing. The paper reviews the development history of China’s natural heritage，discusses the development of China’s natural heritage from laws，regulations，management and other aspects，and puts forward to a prospect for the future development of China’s natural heritage.
