
The “Peking University International Training Program on World Heritage and Protected Areas” was held at the School of Archaeology and Museology at Peking University from November 18 to December 6, 2019, lasting three weeks. The program was organized by the School of Archaeology and Museology at Peking University with the National Forestry and Grassland Administration, and it was hosted by the UNESCO Asia-Pacific World Heritage Training and Research Centre (Beijing). The program aimed to cultivate high-caliber, specialized, and internationally-oriented professionals for the forestry and grassland sector, to continuously supply talent to international organizations, to represent China on the global stage, and to conduct public diplomacy through international platforms. The curriculum comprised three major modules: conservation and management of World Heritage Sites and protected areas; international affairs and international relations; and diplomatic practice and administrative management. Twenty-five participants from relevant units of the National Forestry and Grassland Administration, local forestry and grassland departments, and related academic institutions attended the training.
