June 20, 2024

The UNESCO Asia-Pacific World Heritage Training and Research Center (Beijing) is committed to promoting interdisciplinary integration in heritage preservation. In recent years, WHITRAP Beijing Center has continuously explored interdisciplinary practical teaching. After several years of development, the Cultural Heritage Preservation Joint Workshop has become a flagship project of the Center.

The 2024 Cultural Heritage Preservation Joint Workshop, a Peking University summer course, is jointly organized by the School of Archaeology and Museology of Peking University, the UNESCO Asia-Pacific World Heritage Training and Research Center (Beijing), and the Public Archaeology and Art Center of Peking University. It brings together an integrated team covering cultural heritage, history, archaeology, museology, architecture, landscape tourism, sociology, anthropology, urban and rural planning, and environmental ecology. The team will conduct field research in Gansu Province, investigating cultural resources and cultural and creative industries in five areas: Zhangye City, Tianshui City, Maiji District, Tongwei County, and Lintao County, under the guidance of instructors. Based on field surveys and the "Urban, Culture and Creativity (CCC)" framework jointly developed by UNESCO and the World Bank, the workshop will formulate policy guidelines for Gansu's cultural and creative industries.
